Bill filing officially began at the Texas Capitol November 12, 2024, and legislators submitted proposals on a wide range of topics for consideration in the House and Senate. Often, a representative will file a bill in the House while a senator files a similar or companion bill in the Senate.
Texas REALTORS® tracks every bill filed to identify those that protect and promote the interests of real property owners and the real estate industry—and to oppose those that could harm them. The association carefully reviews legislation addressing property rights, property tax reductions, homeownership, affordable housing, insurance rates, real estate fraud, and critical state infrastructure such as water availability.
In addition to monitoring bills filed, Texas REALTORS® frequently engages with legislators to better understand proposed bills and to advocate for the priorities of the association. This proactive approach ensures that members—and current or future property owners—are represented in the policy decisions shaping the Texas housing market, property rights, and broader economy.
Communicate these advocacy efforts to your clients to reinforce their confidence in you and highlight the association’s strong relationships and influence at the Texas Capitol.
